We are proud to be a Mennonite family farm committed to sustainable farming practices. Our mission is to raise our animals in a humane and natural environment, ensuring quality and delicious meat products for families to enjoy, from a farmer they can trust.

Meet us!
Hi! I'm Leanne Friesen, the woman behind WHM Farms! I run and operate the ranch with my two young daughters, who's passion for animals, farming and making connections with great people along the way match my own. I am the hands-on and the behind the scenes. The livestock care-taker, calving & lambing assistant, hay-maker, fence-fixer, log-builder, calloused hand laborer; sales manager, customer relations, Social Media marketer, delivery driver, and Mom to 2 spirited country girls. This life is my passion!
Born & raised in the town of Abbotsford, BC, I was a 5 year old girl with a stubborn dream of becoming a rancher one day. Despite not being raised in a farming family, I grew up in a home where hard work and integrity were key values. Where the blue-collar skills I was taught - mechanics, woodworking, and general "common-sense" education - gave me the work-ethic and basic skill set I needed to shoot for the dreams I had. And those dreams had me determined to follow my Mennonite roots back to farming - (with a little more Cowgirl thrown in there). Some Agriculture Management education at Olds College in Alberta gave me a kick start to my mainly trial-and-error farming endeavors. And I was off!
Wild Horse Mountain Farms was established in 2012, when I bought my first small herd of cows, a handful of sheep, and 200 meat chickens. I was all in! The first season was a huge success and I've been growing the Farm and business ever since! Fast forward to today; where hard work, determination, and support along the way has created a Farming business that I am so proud of! I can't wait to continue growing the farm and keep on providing all my awesome customers with products they can feel good about!

Pasture-Raised
Chicken
Our chicken is Free-range and Pasture-Raised, without the use of antibiotics.
Every one of our chickens is moved daily, by hand, to fresh green pasture, where they harvest their favourite greens. As chickens require more than just greens, they are supplemented with a grain based feed, free of animal-by-products.
Though this practice is very labour intensive, it has so many benefits!
-Happier, healthier chickens, in a clean environment where they can forage and enjoy the sunlight!

-Fertilizing pasture and getting nutrients back into the ground
*Our chicken is always best ordered in advance, to ensure availability, as they are only raised in the warmer months and in high-demand!*
Free-Range
Lamb
All our lambs are born on the ranch in late-spring (the cutest, though most hands-on time of the year!) Our lamb is free-range and raised on the lushest green pastures of the ranch in the warm summer months. In the colder months they are switched to a quality hay diet, and supplemented with some grain - a special formulated grain blend which provides extra vitamins and minerals for an optimum diet.
*Our lamb is in limited supply and available only once per year. Orders are best made in advance*
